(Toronto, Ontario) Young brokers from across Ontario will gather in Niagara Falls for an annual conference designed specifically for them. The three-day event, hosted by the Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario, will take place at the Hilton Niagara Falls & Fallsview Casino Resort June 6-8.

This year promises to be the biggest YBC Conference yet, featuring a great speaker lineup, an expanded trade show and following the success of last year, a new Team Competition. In groups, attendees will develop a business plan for a fictional brokerage. The plan will focus on a real, timely issue brokerages face in their offices, and teams will present their business plan to a panel of industry experts:

  • Donna Ince, SVP Personal Insurance, RSA
  • Jean-Pierre Gagnon, VP – Personal Lines, Travelers Canada
  • Andrew Godden, Manager Business Development, Wawanesa Insurance
  • Julie Nolette, VP – Personal Lines, Intact
  • Tom Reikman, Senior VP & Chief Distribution Officer, Economical Insurance

The winning team will take home a grand prize of $5,000, provided by Trillium Mutual.

“The Team Competition was a big hit last year,” said YBC President Sean McNamara. “Brokers learn new approaches they can implement at their brokerage. Between the teamwork, the knowledge you gain, and all the networking opportunities, this conference provides a ton of value to young brokers across the channel.”

The conference kicks off with an Opening Night Party sponsored by the event’s biggest contributor, Travelers Canada. Other key contributors to the event include IBAO Magenta Sponsors, Heartland Mutual, Burns & Wilcox Canada, EMRG, DSB Claims, Portage Mutual, Norfolk Mutual, SGI/Coachman, CARSTAR and tradeshow exhibitors.

“It’s great to see so much support for this event,” said IBAO President Brian Purcell. “It goes to show how valuable the Young Brokers Conference is to the industry, and how important young brokers are to the continued success of the broker network. This is the future of our industry.”

Registration is available online at ibao.org/events/young-brokers-conference. Brokers can take advantage of early bird pricing until May 18. This year, returning attendees can also save an additional 10% by recruiting a first timer to attend.
