The Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario (IBAO) Awards of Excellence are back for 2022 and in person for the first time in three years. The Awards of Excellence celebrate achievement in Ontario’s broker channel across six categories, to be given out at a gala during their Annual Convention—October 19th & 20th at the Sheraton Centre in Toronto.
“We have so many incredible members—we love having the opportunity to celebrate the work they do,” said IBAO CEO Colin Simpson. “Being able to do so in person feels like a victory lap for all the work they’ve over the past couple years.”
Building upon previous years, awards will be given out for the following categories:
Diversity Leader – New as of last year, this award is given to a broker who has meaningfully improved diversity, equity and inclusion at their brokerage or within the broker channel.
Future Leader – Formerly Young Broker of the Year, this award acknowledges a rising talent in the broker channel who has either been licensed for less than five years or is 40 years old or younger.
Innovation of the Year – New in 2019, this is award is given to spotlight a singular innovation that has advanced Ontario’s broker channel. This award is open to any brokerage, broker, group of brokers, insurance company, insurance professional or industry partner/vendor.
Brokerage of Year – One change to the awards lineup, this year two awards will be given out for this category, one for Brokerages with 25 or fewer licensed brokers and one for brokerages with over 25 licensed brokers. Each highlight leading brokerages in the field.
“We’re very proud of the work our members have done,” said IBAO President Joseph Carnevale. “They’ve had an uphill battle in recent years and have come out even stronger. I know we’ll have a very impressive crop of nominees to choose from.”
In addition to a coveted award, winners receive a feature article in The Ontario Broker magazine, promotion throughout 2023, and will have a donation made their behalf to a charitable organization of their choice.
Nominate yourself or a peer for the 2022 Awards of Excellence by September 14th. With the exception of Innovation of the Year, only IBAO Member Brokerages and Member Brokers can be nominated.
