Scam Targeting Exam Candidates
09 May 2025
3 MIN READ
We’ve recently learned of a scam targeting individuals seeking to write their RIBO exam. Scammers are using Facebook and email to impersonate IBAO using our logo, fake documents, misleading links and social media ads to collect payment, administer fake exams and/or issue falsified results.
Only IBAO and the Insurance Institute of Canada are authorized by RIBO to deliver exams on its behalf. Any other provider or platform claiming to offer RIBO exams isn’t authorized and is acting fraudulently.
To ensure you’re dealing with IBAO, verify email addresses and web links end in official domains:
Website — www.ibao.org
Email — exams@ibao.on.ca
Here’s a recap of our registration process:
All IBAO exam registrations are done through our website www.ibao.org
IBAO does NOT accept exam registrations through social media or messaging services
IBAO does NOT accept email money transfers
IBAO will never ask about or request documents related to immigration status
If you suspect fraudulent activity, report the incident immediately to RIBO at exam@ribo.com and IBAO at exams@ibao.on.ca, and notify your financial institution to prevent further financial loss.
