First off, you’ll be notified that you’ve been chosen as a finalist by an independent panel of judges, this year comprised of insurance company reps and past winners. You’ll feel honoured just to have been selected.
Then you’ll be asked to participate in a short phone interview to seal the win.
On October 17th, you and the other finalists will travel to Niagara Falls to attend our Awards of Excellence Gala on opening night of Convention at the Fallsview Casino. The night will begin with a cocktail reception where your professional network will expand by a few or by a large number of people.
At the Gala, you’ll be announced the winner in front of all your peers. You’ll accept the honour on stage alongside Awards of Excellence Emcee and comedian James Cunningham (the best). Looking fabulous, you’ll hoist the plaque and pose for photos that will be shared and liked across social media. #IBAO18 #IBAOawards
Everything about the evening — the recognition, the music by the Cara Matthew Quartet, the food and the wine — will cement it as a true highlight in your career. You won’t realize how much more is yet to come.
In the following days and weeks, you’ll receive media exposure across industry outlets. You’ll have increased web traffic and inquiries from interested customers and future employees. And when they visit your site or receive an email from your brokerage, they’ll see an Awards of Excellence seal, indicating that you’re among the best in the business.
Then you’ll get to share your journey in a cover story for The Ontario Broker magazine. People across the broker channel will read about you, think you’re cool and want to work with you. You’ll be flattered by all the praise, but even more so, you’ll appreciate the new business opportunities.
Then someday you’ll be able to share that magazine with your great grandkids, if you can get them to stop playing with their holograms for 30 seconds.
