  Designation/Certificate Programs  
  IBAO encourages licensed (Level I or II) insurance brokers to give their career a solid boost by acquiring one or more of the nationally recognized professional certificates or designations available to them. In fact, obtaining one or more professional designations can increase your opportunities for advancement and income growth.

All of the designation and certificate programs offered by the IBAO School of Insurance have been specifically developed, written and are delivered by Canadian insurance brokers. Designation and certificate programs form the bulk of the education Career Path recommended by the IBAO School of Insurance.

The following are Licensing, Certificate & Designation Programs offered by the IBAO School of Insurance:

Professional Selling for Insurance Brokers

Professional Selling for the Insurance Brokers is a new 3 day program based on the nationally recognized sales program form the Canadian Professional Sales Association. It is built on the consultative sales process and focuses on four core areas: self management, business creation, the selling process and building and managing your business.

You will be taught how to understand and implement tactical, strategic and self-management skills in a range of situations; how to construct a strategic framework for success in first visits, leading to go-forward commitments; and how to produce tangible returns through customer retention and expanded business opportunities.

Completion of the course fulfills the sales component of the Canadian Professional Insurance Broker designation.

Future Leaders Program (FLP)
Future Leaders Program is a four-part certificate program, designed to address the competencies needed by aspiring Brokerage Owners/Leaders, based on direct input from Young Broker Council Members, successful Broker Principals, and leading Insurance Companies. The program focuses on self assessment and development and effective communication skills, and is completed over a 12 month period. Built around 3 best selling business books, this interactive program consists of a 360 assessment, extensive pre-work, four one-day seminars, implementation exercises, ongoing coaching and follow up.

Customer Service for the Insurance Professional (CSIP)
Customer Service for the Insurance Professional is a four-part certificate program dealing with the critical services role of the Customer Service Representative.  It looks at every aspect of brokerage operations from a customer service perspective and focuses on the exact job functions of those that deal with the clients.  It is offered in both a facilitated and self study format.

Canadian Accredited Insurance Broker Designation Program (CAIB)

The Canadian Accredited Insurance Broker (CAIB) program, is a four part national designation program that takes an in-depth look at technical coverages and business management strategies in the Canadian insurance marketplace. It deals with three major subject areas: personal lines, commercial lines and brokerage management. Completing the program will enhance your technical knowledge, general business competency and professionalism.

It is offered in three study formats: group discussion, immersion and self study and can be completed in four semesters with semesters beginning in January, May and September each year.

Canadian Professional Insurance Broker Designation Program (CPIB)

The Canadian Professional Insurance Broker (CPIB) program is a national six part designation program that is designed for brokers who have earned their CAIB or CIP, are seeking a specialization and who want a program to enhance their knowledge of the insurance industry. Brokers can select one of three streams of specialization depending on their interests: Personal Lines, Commercial Lines or Broker Management. Within each stream, brokers must complete three mandatory insurance courses and three elective business courses offered at a recognized college or university.

The program is offered in two study formats: group discussion and self study. It can be completed in six semesters with the mandatory courses being offered in January, May and September each year. Brokers can receive credit for any of the recognized elective business courses previously completed. CPIB courses can also be taken for general interest outside of the designation program.

Canadian Certified Insurance Designation Program (CCIB)
The Canadian Certified Insurance Broker designation is the highest designation awarded by the Insurance Brokers Association of Canada.  There is no formal course of study for the three CCIB examinations.  The examinations test all aspects of property casualty insurance, including the candidate’s ability to do risk management analysis.  The designation is intended to demonstrate the holder’s practical competency gained through experience.
